Matter

Matter is everything that takes up space. The weight of an object is defined as the force of gravity on the object and may be calculated as the mass times the acceleration of gravity, w=mg. Since the weight is a force, it's SI unit is the newton. Mass  In physics, the property of matter that measures its resistance to acceleration. Roughly, the mass of an object is a measure of the number of atoms in it. The basic unit of measurement for mass is the kilogram. volume is three-dimensional space occupied by a gas, liquid or solid. Scientists measure volume in cubic units, such as liters, cubic meters, gallons and ounces. The most common equation to find volume is mass divided by density. They are all measured by using a balance, except volume which you use a graduated cylinder.

Density is the amount of volume in an object, and the formula is D=M/V. 

There are three types of matter and they are Solid, Liquid, and Gas. A solid is when the molecules are tightly squeezed together and are in an organized space. Liquid the molecules are spread out alittle and are freely moving. And finally gases go crazy and always bounce of each other. Matter changes form when energy is taken or given which is how they get to those forms.

Introduction to Physical Science

Many people have the question "What is science?". Well there are many answers to that question but the one I first thought of was science is everything. It can be split up into many categories but all just try to get to the explanation of life. In science there is steps of which every question needs to follow to get answered and that is the scientific method. The first step there is for you to ask a question. The second step is to do background information on the topic. Then you create your hypothesis on what you think is gonna happen. Next you create an experiment. After you do your experiment you need to analyze your data and make a chart of your results. Then you conclude and see if your hypothesis was right and prove it'll with your question.

Now I'm gonna talk about the metric system. The metric system is a system of measurements which the whole world uses except 3 countries. The base unit of measurement for weight is grams, the measurement for distance is meter and for liquids it is liters. It goes by powers of ten and uses many different prefixes.
Kilo means 1000
Hecto means 100
Deca- 10
Liter, Meter, and Grams basic
Deci means .1
Centi means .01
Milli means .001
Those are the most common prefixes and there values. The unit of tempreture in the metric system is degrees Celsius.

For mass you find it by using a balance, for meters you use rulers and for volume you use a graduated cylinder.

Energy

        Scientist have proven that energy is the ability to do work. Work is moving something against a force, like gravity. Energy can be found in things, and take many forms. There are two main energy's called kinetic and potential energy. Kinetic energy is something in motion. While potential energy is energy that is stored up. Scientist say the only way something with potential energy can be kinetic is something with equal or greater force. Energy can travel in waves called electromagnetic waves which are things such as heat, light, radio, and gamma rays. There is another question "What is heat?". To put it simply heat is energy travelling in waves. Things start to heat up when molecules start moving or when a chemical reaction starts such as a match lighting wood to make a big fire. Heat moves in waves through space.
   
     Radiation happens when heat moves as energy waves called infrared waves, directly from its source to something else. This is how the sun heats up the earth by its waves reching all the way to earths surface. Hot things radiate cooler things. This happens by molecules in the cooler object start speeding up.

    Convention is the movement caused within a fluid by the tendency of hotter. Therefore less dense material rises and colder denser material to sink under the in fluency of gravity. This consistently results in heat transfer.

    Conduction is the process of electricity is directly transmitted through a substance. When there is a difference of temperature or of electrical potential energy.  Without movement of materials this happens.
